BEWARE:Cost cutting techniques used by the unscrupulous air conditioning & heating contractor.Don't laugh .. we see these time and time again ..
The line-set: 4 different approaches to
cutting costs. |
Air conditioning and heating scams to be wary ofFreon Step 1 Reduce your costs, customers don't know about these ones!Don't bother evacuating the system before releasing the Freon. Customers won't notice a thing, for some years at least. They haven't a clue about the acid that's created by leaving air and moisture in the system. By the time it does its damage they'll be lots of other reasons to give them for system failure. Besides the acid moisture combination only makes the compressor work a little harder, so it's not like they'll be spending allot of extra money on electricity, is it? You'll get a chance to replace the system for them, years earlier. They don't know about the inside deposits left from welding do they? Save some money. The deposits usually won't effect the metering devices for some time. The compressors new so it can handle some extra work, right? The extra electricity isn't something to worry about, cause they won't know, will they. CONCLUSIONS: Play this part of cost reduction properly and you can save maybe $300 or more on each new air conditioning system installation. |
Use a LOWER SEER evaporator COIL Do it. The system will work great! Customers will be happy! It is so easy to do as customers can't tell. Except for the electricity part. What's a bit extra of electricity from now till forever. Besides customers will still pay less electricity over the old clunker, so they'll still be happy and recommend their friends. CONCLUSIONS: Play this part of cost reduction properly and you can save maybe $200 or a bit more on each new air conditioning system installation.Tell them the old Furnace is okay! Do it .. especially with budget conscious customers. Better to get a sale outta them. They don't know most old furnaces were engineered to blow about 300 CFM's of air per ton of air conditioning .. which was fine for the old condensers. But the new condensers need about 400 CFM's per ton of air conditioning. Customers will be happy, they saved money! No need to tell them that their electrical cost will be high .. or the new condenser will not make it to a ripe old age! It is so easy to do as customers can't tell. What's a bit of electricity from now till forever. Besides customers will still pay less electricity over the old clunker, so they'll still be happy and recommend their friends. It's better to get an extra $2000.00 PLUS or so sale later, when they need to replace that old furnace ... no need to tell them it would have cost less than half had it been done as part of the air conditioning system upgrade! SAVINGS???? |
Tell them the old Evaporator Coil is okay! They'll never get the energy efficiency they paid for ..
but they won't know. Odds are it will work for a good number of
years! And you'll get more sales earlier from that customer .. a hero ..
you saved them money! They say you were the only one who advised them
properly! The new condenser will die years, earlier! But you'll have lot's
of other reasons to give them for failure .. won't you! Freon STEP 2 Cost REDUCTION Don't bother to re-check the Freon levels after the system is running, it won't be a whole lot off anyway. Customers will be happy as the system will work! They'll never notice the extra electricity ( about 10% ) spent to operate their system, nor will they understand the extra work the compressor does for both undercharged and overcharged systems. CONCLUSIONS: Time is money isn't it? You can avoid sending high priced talent to the job site! Play this part of cost reduction properly and you can save time on each new air conditioning system installation. |
